Honour & Joseph – Baroque Glamour and Cinematic Storytelling at Lartington Hall
Honour & Joseph – A Beautiful Celebration in Teesdale
Honour and Joseph’s wedding at Lartington Hall was a masterclass in timeless elegance. Known as one of the most glamorous estates in the North, the Hall provided a majestic backdrop for a day that felt both grand and deeply personal.
From the sacred atmosphere of the private chapel to the editorial-style portrait sessions, every moment was captured with a focus on cinematic movement and the unique heritage of this incredible Teesdale venue.
A Sacred Ceremony in the Private Chapel
The day began with a truly meaningful ceremony in Lartington’s private chapel. There is a specific, hallowed quietness to this space that translates beautifully to film. Capturing Honour and Joseph exchanging their vows in such an intimate, historic setting allowed for a documentary style of videography that felt both authentic and emotionally resonant. It was the perfect, soulful start to their celebrations.
The Spiral Staircase: An Editorial Masterpiece
One of the visual highlights of the day took place within the heart of the Hall. Utilising the stunning architecture, we filmed a signature sequence looking down from the top of the iconic spiral staircase.
As Honour and Joseph met below, we captured the fluid motion of their meeting, a graceful spin, and a perfectly timed dip right next to the grand piano. This bird’s-eye perspective, combined with the classic interiors, created a high-fashion sequence that feels like a piece of bespoke cinema. It’s these choreographed yet natural moments that elevate a wedding film into something extraordinary.
Cinematic Walks & Stylised Drone Artistry
When we moved into the grounds, we leaned into a "groom-led" cinematic style. Capturing Joseph leading Honour through the manicured gardens and across the estate provided a sense of journey and momentum in the film. This wasn't just about standing for portraits; it was about capturing the couple in motion, enjoying the scale of their surroundings.
To truly showcase that scale, we utilised stylised drone cinematography. By flyng the drone over the couple as they explored the Lartington estate, we were able to contrast the intricate detail of the Hall's Baroque architecture with the expansive beauty of the Teesdale countryside. These aerial shots provide a grand, "feature-film" feel to the final edit.
Heartfelt Words & Remarkable Speeches
As the day moved into the Grand Ballroom, the energy shifted toward the emotional core of the wedding: the speeches. Honour and Joseph’s family and friends delivered some of the most amazing speeches I’ve had the pleasure of filming. Capturing the laughter, the tears, and the spontaneous reactions from the top table is vital for telling the "why" behind the wedding, ensuring the film is as much about the people as it is the beautiful setting.
A Legacy Preserved
Honour and Joseph’s wedding was a perfect marriage of style and substance. By blending the historic grandeur of Lartington Hall with modern, stylised filming techniques—from the spiral staircase dip to the sweeping drone vistas—we created a film that reflects their unique connection.
It was a privilege to document such a sophisticated day and to preserve the glamour and heart of their Lartington Hall story.
Emma and Thomas’s wedding at Solberge Hall wasn’t just a wedding; it was a curated experience. From the high-fashion editorial portraits to the high-energy "country hoedown" on the dancefloor, every minute was designed to be captured on film.
As a videographer, this day was a dream. We balanced the classic elegance of a North Yorkshire manor house with a fast-paced, modern itinerary that included outfit changes, cocktail bars, and some of the most unique drone compositions I’ve filmed to date.
Bridal Elegance in the Suite
The morning began in the Solberge Hall bridal suite. These initial "bride shots" set the tone for the film—focusing on the fine details, the light pouring through the Georgian windows, and the calm before the party truly kicked off. It was the perfect contrast to the high-octane energy that would follow later in the day.
Making a Move: The Editorial Chess Board
One of the visual highlights of the day was taking the bridal party out to the giant garden chess board. Moving away from standard "line-up" photos, we directed an editorial-style shoot that looked like it belonged in a fashion magazine.
To elevate this further, we took to the skies. Using stylised drone footage, we captured a top-down, bird’s-eye view of the the bride and groom walking towards each other, meeting in the middle, leading a spin and falling into a dip. The geometric patterns of the chess board combined with the symmetry of the venue's architecture created a truly cinematic sequence that stands out in their final wedding film.
The Party Kickoff: Singers, Sax & Country Soul
Once the formalities were over, the atmosphere shifted gear completely. The afternoon was a masterclass in wedding entertainment. We had live singers and a saxophone player weaving through the crowd, creating a vibrant, festival-vibe soundtrack.
A standout moment was the organised country-style line dance—a high-energy hoedown that got every single guest involved. Capturing the movement and the sheer joy of a synchronised dance floor is where wedding videography really shines; you can feel the floor shaking through the lens.
The Outfit Change & The Bar "Dip"
As evening fell, Emma transitioned into her second look of the day. To mark the outfit change and the start of the night’s real festivities, we headed to the bar for some of my favorite shots of the entire wedding.
Forget the traditional portraits; we put Emma and Thomas right on top of the bar for a dramatic "dip" surrounded by cocktails. It was bold, stylish, and perfectly summed up their "work hard, party harder" approach to the day.
Pizza, Ice Cream & Cocktails
The evening was a sensory feast. With a pizza van firing up outside, an ice cream van serving guests on the lawn, and a constant flow of bespoke cocktails, there was never a dull moment to film. The "full shabang" of vendors created a relaxed, social atmosphere that allowed for plenty of candid, authentic footage of guests simply having the time of their lives.
A Day to Remember
Emma and Thomas’s Solberge Hall wedding was a perfect example of how to take a traditional venue and make it entirely your own. By mixing editorial photography techniques with high-energy entertainment and a touch of country flair, they created a day that was as fun to watch as it was to attend.
It was an absolute blast to capture the "shabang," the style, and the soul of this incredible North Yorkshire celebration.
